Family founded It started with a diagnosis, not a business plan.
We're the parents of a child with complex disabilities. That's how we learned the NDIS, in the deep end, the same way most families do. We filled in the forms. We sat in planning meetings and nodded at words nobody explained. We waited for support workers who sometimes didn't arrive. If you've had that morning, you already know how the rest of the day goes.
Then we went to work inside the system. One of us became a support coordinator, matching families to providers and learning what the job asks of one. One of us worked in NDIS quality and compliance, in the lead auditor role. That job means opening the files: incident reports, worker screening, rosters, service agreements, the notes behind the service.
That work changes what you look for. You start asking who was rostered on, who signed it off, and what happened the day it went wrong. Those are the questions we now ask ourselves, every week, about our own service. It's a strange way to run a business. It's the only one we know.
J&J Supports came out of putting the two halves together. We knew what a family needs at 6am when a shift falls over. We also knew what our own paperwork had to look like when nobody was checking. So we set the systems up first, before we scaled. We hire around them, we roster around them, and we keep the team small enough that a name still means a face.
You shouldn't have to learn the compliance rules to feel safe. That's our job. We hold the day together. Then we help build something on top of it. That's why the line under our name reads: empowered to live, supported to grow.
We know what good looks like from the audit floor. We also know what it costs a family when it goes wrong.
